Party Hosting Tips!

10 easy ways to be a better host (and have more fun at parties!)

Make your party about the person, the holiday or the event, not about the alcohol! More and more people are drinking less and less every day!

  1. Offer a few no/lo options such as punch, iced tea, mocktails, sparkling water or NA wine or beer.

  2. Flip the script by offering guests non-alcoholic beverages first.

  3. keep the alcohol apart, monitored, and minimized, especially when minors are around.

  4. Have a friend tend bar — or hire someone! It’s important to measure your pours.

  5. Provide ample food and water.

  6. Avoid drinking games and shots.

  7. Play music and games that are fun without alcohol.

  8. Consider daytime events, such as brunch, where alcohol isn’t expected.

  9. Make sure guests get home safe.

  10. Have fun! If you’re having fun, they’re having fun!

Bonus tip!

When someone says they don’t drink, just say “that’s great!” They might be in recovery or they might have religious or health reasons for being sober. No matter their reason, don’t ask why.

REMEMBER: Teens are voluntarily drinking less every year, with over 2/3 of Berkshire County adolescents never having even tried alcohol! You can help by practicing safer consumption and modeling healthier behaviors.
